Whether you are selling a product or service or resources to customers or selling your ideas to investors, it is very important to master the skill of persuasion as that will enable you to make good sales. Most young salesmen and saleswomen in Nigeria have these skills and as a Nigerian entrepreneur, you will need it to convince your employees, co-founders and teams to believe in your ideas and work towards achieving the organizational goals.

  3. These are very valid points raised by the contributor. I can't but agree. Permit me to add Creativity. The Nigerian economy is very dynamic and often the enabling environment might not be readily available, as such to survive as an entrepreneur, one needs to be very creative and on one's toes at all times. This brings to mind some years back when I was running a Retail business and we were having some challenges with inventory management of recharge cards. I came across a device that was only used basically in hotels to electronically vend cards. I approached the vendor but they were reluctant at giving me a trial based on my business model that was strange to them. I persevered and after about 6 months they decided to give us a trial. My business partners were also not convinced that this business would work. Low and behold within 3 months of running this model, we had recouped our investment and under one year we were one of the highest distributor in our locality. Points to note, the train blazer (i.e. the pace setter) always has an edge in the market and cleans up before others realize what has hit them. Be creative and remain focused. Thank you.
